A practical 90-day borrowing preparation plan
Use three months to organise your finances, without promises of approval.
Month one: build a clear baseline
List income, essential spending, every existing loan, card balances and payment dates. Review your credit report through an official source and note anything requiring clarification. Start from records rather than an estimate of what you owe.
Month two: make the routine reliable
Plan upcoming repayments and allow enough time and funds for them. Track variable expenses and identify commitments you can realistically reduce. Address disputed report information through official channels and keep copies of the correspondence.
Month three: reassess affordability
Update the budget using actual spending. Prepare the documents a prospective lender requests and decide the amount and EMI you could reasonably manage. Compare borrowing options carefully before submitting applications.
Measure progress honestly
Useful progress includes better records, clearer cash flow and fewer avoidable payment problems. Ninety days is a planning window, not a promise that a score will change or a lender will approve a loan. Seek qualified help if current payments are already difficult to meet.
