Your credit report: what to review first
A practical way to organise your report before your next loan enquiry.
Read the account details
Check that your name and identifying information are correct, then review the accounts listed. Look for unfamiliar loans, repayment entries that do not match your records and balances or account statuses that need clarification.
Keep supporting records
If something appears incorrect, gather statements, payment receipts and closure documents. Raise the issue through the relevant lender and credit bureau’s official dispute process. Keep the reference number and track the response rather than relying on a verbal assurance.
Review enquiries and commitments
Look at recent lender enquiries and your outstanding borrowing together. An unfamiliar enquiry deserves a check. Before making further applications, understand your current obligations and ask a prospective lender what checks its application process involves.
Treat the score as one input
A credit score does not guarantee approval or a particular rate. Lenders assess applications using their own criteria. No service can promise a specific score increase or approval date. Credswitch’s current enquiry journey does not fetch your credit report.
